The Cash Cycle Seminar (ICCOS) Resumes In-Person Events in 2021

Over the past year Currency Research has successfully pivoted to deliver online virtual events across its portfolio, with approximately 50 live and on-demand sessions reaching over 3,000 industry participants across the cash and payments industries.

However, a return to in-person events, when safe to do so, has always been the plan to allow the face-to-face connections and networking that the entire industry has so desperately been lacking for what will be close to two years. With increasingly positive news on vaccine rollout in many regions across the world and strong sentiment from leading industry stakeholders about their ability and appetite to travel, Currency Research has released its conference calendar for the next 12 months, including two Cash Cycle Seminar events in 2021.

For the foreseeable future it seems like some countries or organisations will face travel restrictions. Therefore, whilst there is understandable excitement for a return to an in-person format, the conferences will be hybrid in design, allowing virtual participation from those otherwise unable to attend in person.

According to Tom Mitchell, Vice President, ‘in March 2020 we took the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the Europe Cash Cycle Seminar (ICCOS) event due to COVID. It was a shame as it was a highly anticipated event with a surprisingly large global attendee base attracted by a really industry thought leading agenda; with a primary focus on Access to Cash, New Distribution Models and Sustainability. Little did even we know just how into the centre of the mainstream global cash industry these topics would be thrust in a matter of weeks!’

‘We have been extremely fortunate’, he continued, ‘to have the strong support of our attendees and sponsors over the last year and have been working hard to support the industry and keep information and knowledge flowing, and finally we are thrilled to be able to tell the many stakeholders who have been longing to hear it – we’re back, in person – mark your calendars’.

The agendas for both events are nearly complete and will be released in due course. The specific themes will vary slightly between the events with each placing more emphasis on the industry in its home region, but topics being discussed include:

  • Cash & Payments Trends

  • Access to Cash

  • Efficiency and Optimization

  • Sustainable Production & Distribution Regulation & Legislation

  • Cash and COVID: How has COVID changed the Cash Cycle?

  • Coin and COVID: Making Sense out of Cents

  • Learning from COVID: Table Discussion of Lessons Learned

  • CITs & CMCs: The Engine of the Cash Cycle

  • Cash & Cannabis

  • Access to Cash and Financial Inclusion

  • What's All this Talk About a CBDC… and Should I Care?

As usual the Americas Cash Cycle Seminar will also include a pre-event half day programme focusing specifically on Latin American issues, presented in Spanish.

Since the first seminar in 1995, the Cash Cycle Seminar (ICCOS) has evolved into the premier event for sustainable and efficient cash management, distribution and circulation, bringing together all stakeholders in cash circulation to share perspectives, ideas, cost saving technologies, strategies, best practices, and case studies for the betterment of the industry.

The EMEA Cash Cycle Seminar (ICCOS) is co-hosted by De Nederlandsche Bank, and is taking place 1-3 November 2021 at the Movenpick Hotel in Amsterdam.

The Americas Cash Cycle Seminar (ICCOS) is taking place 6-9 December at the Intercontinental Hotel in San Diego.
