Asia Cash Cycle Seminar Returns to Philippines

The Asia Cash Cycle Seminar (ICCOS) takes place 5-7 September 2022, returning to its live and in person format after a three-year hiatus.

Whilst so much has changed since the last gathering in Colombo in September 2019, the need for the industry’s stakeholders to meet face to face, to share their experiences, to reconnect and plan for the future of cash has not. To be held at the Shangri La Fort, this will be the 10th Asia Cash Cycle Seminar, and also marks 10 years since it was last held in Manila.

The event will retain its familiar flow, with topical and relevant presentations and discussions by global and regional experts.

The agenda addresses the entire cash cycle to enhance planning and execution of strategies to ensure the efficiency, optimization and relevancy of cash in an ever digitalising payments world. Delegates from the region’s, commercial banks, cash management companies, retailers, central banks and leading industry suppliers will gather to learn from each other and to shape the future.

Pre-summit workshops

One of the pre-summit workshops consists of payment training for cash professionals, giving a greater understanding of current trends in digital payments. It will be conducted by Currency Research on behalf of the Asia Cash Management Association (ACMA).

The other is the Central Bank Summit, which is a central bank only workshop, addressing the pressing issues such as choice of banknote substrates, recycling, industry regulation, sustainability, coin recirculation and more.

Two day programme

The formal seminar begins with a welcome address by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, followed by a panel discussion of the global trends in cash and payments, with several regional central banks updating delegates on the past three years and thoughts on the future trends for cash.

This will be followed by another panel addressing the key issue of sustainability and how the cash industry is stepping up to the challenge. The final plenary session investigates the essential question of driving efficiency and optimisation in the cash cycle.

The second day of the formal seminar includes a special panel, moderated by ACMA, bringing together industry experts to discuss ‘how to keep cash relevant in an ever digitising payments world’.

The final two plenary sessions will look at highly topical issues that may impact the future use of cash – firstly, a panel session examining financial inclusion and the role of cash, and concluding with a panel discussion on CBDCs – what are they and what will be their relation to cash?

The seminar will conclude with the delegate dinner.
