Digital payments have gained widespread popularity by offering convenience, ease and security to transactions. However, these digital payment experiences rely on having a suitable device, sufficient power supply and an internet connection. When any of these are absent, due to outages or being in a rural areas without a stable connection, payments are delayed or declined, causing frustration for end users, merchants, and service providers alike.

To ensure that no one is left behind, digital payments must be as resilient as cash payments. By incorporating offline capabilities into their digital solutions, stakeholders within the payment ecosystem can enhance the inclusiveness, effectiveness and convenience of online payment methods.
