Adjustment, Not Overhaul to French Payments

The Banque de France’s First Deputy Governor, speaking at the Central Bank Payments Conference in Paris in earlier this month, has said that it is addressing the significant changes in the payment system through a regulatory framework that is demanding but innovation friendly and making changes to ensure central bank money remains at the heart of settlement between intermediaries.

The view of the Deputy Governor was that the evolving payment landscape and policy environment is likely to require an adjustment rather than a thorough overhaul.

‘X’ to Offer Payments

The social media app X has said it has made a deal with Visa to be its first partner for the @XMoney account. This will allow users to connect their debit cards for P2P payments in real time and have the option to instantly transfer funds to bank accounts in an instant X Wallet.
