Keeping Cash Centre Stage

A new NCR Atleos white paper on cash in the digital age reminds readers that the word ‘ATM’ is like the word ‘Google’: It’s a verb, it’s a noun and it’s something that’s just readily understood all over the world.’ It argues that while cash is non-digital, the marriage of customer-facing technology and cash is keeping cash useful, convenient and accessible.

The advent of deposit ATMs has become mainstream, and it is now not uncommon for ATMs to offer bill payments, fund transfers, currency exchange and other services. Many providers allow customers to use their mobile wallets to interact with ATMs. Some ATMs (eg. Bank of America and US Bank) incorporate live video tellers offering loan applications, mortgages and more.
