COP26: Where Does the Cash Industry Stand?

15 organisations across the entire cash cycle have contributed 61 separate case studies illustrating what they have done to reduce their environmental impact for a white paper which will be ready for the UN Climate Change conference (COP 26) starting 1 November. A further five organisations will be providing more examples.

The case studies illustrate what can be achieved by making changes small and large. Some involve very small changes, using different materials or cutting out process steps, while others have involved redesigning products and processes or investing in new capabilities. There are examples for all budgets and timelines.

22 of the projects involve using less energy, six less water, 19 recycling/reuse/reduction of materials, five changes to how sites are operated and six using less fossil fuels. Some don’t fit any of these categories.

The paper will be issued in October and will be available to all as an example of what is possible and evidence of an industry succeeding in being a ‘good citizen’ for all the right reasons.
