To pick out a small number of presentations, NCR Atleos and Brinks talked about the trend to outsource ATM services and management. Tietoevcy focused on a different type of outsourcing, ATM pooling using Bankomat in Sweden and Geldmaat in the Netherlands as examples, and the Eika Alliance in Norway presented their pooling operations and approach to banking.

A panel of speakers from HSBC, Link and Euronet discussed the broader issues of and approaches to access to cash. Listening to the panel, Europe seems to be addressing the issue through a mix of approaches. Some are pursuing ATM pooling (Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway). Others, particularly Germany and France, have maintained extensive state cash infrastructure, and we are also seeing countries such as the Netherlands and Sweden re- investing in cash infrastructure. Generally, outsourcings is being increasingly adopted and at the conference NatWest announced its link up with NCR Atleos.
